| Northern Michigan's First Brew Pub. Open till Midnight for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Great Beer, Great Food, Great Service, Great Friends. Hand-crafted ales and lagers include: Wiltse's Blue Ox Stout, a full flavored dark beer made with oatmeal and roasted grains. Wiltse's Premium Lager, our best-selling Pilsner Lager. Great choice for first timers. Wiltse's Paul Bunyan Ale, an amber-style ale with a pronounced malt and hops character. A big malty brew made primarily from two row barley malts and a touch of carmel malt. The malty body is properly balanced with the skillful use of Cascade and Kent Golding Hops. Wiltse's Oscoda Rare, a specialty brew that changes with the season or perhaps the whim of the Brew Master. It may be a Belgian Triple Ale today or an Octoberfest beer tomorrow. This beer is produced in very small quantities, so be sure to enjoy it…it may be the only time you ever get to taste it!!! Wiltse's Old AuSable Weizenbier, combines the substitution of wheat malt for half of the barley malts and a special strain of top fermenting yeast, to give this brew a slightly fruity overtone suggesting cloves and banana. |

Come take a ride on the glorious AuSable River aboard the River Queen.
We operate a double-decker, authentic paddle wheel patriotically painted in Red, White and Blue!
We have enjoyed 40 years of safe passage. Young and old alike are excited to ride the Queen and take in the beautiful scenery and wildlife. Our Bald Eagles that perch on the large trees along the rivers bank are a big hit! It is a beautiful trip in the Summer and even more brilliant with the turning of the leaves in the Fall. |

Lumbermen’s Monument stands on the scenic
high banks of the AuSable River. The bronze
statue, erected in 1931, is dedicated to the
pioneer spirit and efforts of the Michigan
Lumbermen. There are many things to do and
see at Lumbermen’s Monument. Besides
viewing the monument, you may visit the
Lumbermen’s Monument Visitor Center viewing
the exhibits and purchasing items that relate to
the lumbering era or environmental topics. U.S.
Forest Service personnel are available for tours
and to answer questions. Pause at the overlook
area and view the panoramic AuSable River
valley or descend the staircase to get a closer
look at Cooke Dam Pond. Hike out to the “high
banks” or have a picnic in one of the picnic areas.
Whatever you do, be sure and plan to spend
plenty of time at Lumbermen’s Monument so you
can experience all there is to do and see. |

Iargo Springs Interpretive Site provides a
spectacular panoramic view of the Au Sable River.
It lies next to River Road and has been used as a
drinking water source since presettlement times.
Dams were constructed on the springs by early
loggers, before the turn of the century. The dams
were useful on diverting water to the logging camps
nearby. Most of the waters of Cooke Pond were
dry land then. Europeans have visited the springs
for recreation since the 1920’s. A trail was
constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in
1934. Early photographs show the dam being
repaired and reinforced by the CCC’s. This work
lasted until a storm took out the dams in
1981. |
